Property inventory and appraisal reports prepared on state residential institutions by the American Appraisal Company. The reports describe the facilities in general, describe appraisal classification and depreciation procedures, and list each building with its component parts and gross square footage, usually including a schematic map of the institution grounds.

The American Appraisal Company from Milwaukee, Wisconsin conducted appraisals of several grain elevators in Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola Counites, Michigan for the Saginaw Milling Company in 1912. The Saginaw Milling Company was established in 1893 by Arthur and Walter Eddy. It built the largest grain elevator in 1918 and controlled 21 Michigan elevators.
